Pros
Mostly great people. Strong company core values. Work you can be proud of. Safe conditions in dangerous work environment. Cool work. Lots of resources and good strategic sharing / leveraging of knowledge and resources at an operational level. Impressive investment made in training and development of people. Lots of opportunity for growth if you want to work for it.
Cons
High turnover rate. Tough to attract and retain good talent due to poor business performance, challenging and overwhelming amount of work coupled with average base salaries and below average bonuses. Poor corporate decisions and acquisitions have huge implications on the business success overshadowing local successes. Company is very corporate compared to how it used to be in the hay day. Publicly traded so pressure is always on to be growing and expanding even if that’s not what’s best for the business. A lot of people who planned on spending their careers there have left in the past 5 years. Every region is different so some are better than others for the day to day working, the people, quality of management and the vibe. But everyone is pushed to the limit or beyond to try and reach an ever raising bar. Sad I had to leave but life’s too short to work for a mediocre business with a bad business plan.
