Pros

I never had a check bounce which is nice they had a good HMO plan when i worked there that cost a lot before taxes but covered everything that i needed for the family. I was given a company truck to use for all work related projects. I enjoyed my boss from my former company but had a hard time with true granite made managers

Cons

You have to work a lot of non traditional hours with no overtime or compensation for the work. They tell you that it all works out in the end but it does not . Truck was not to be used for non work project even though i had to park it in front of my house with their billboard on the side i could not haul leaves to the dump or pick up an large items at the store had to borrow a friends truck for that. When they laid me off i was the most knowledgeable person in my position and was replaced by the engineer i had been training. Layoffs were not based on work ethics or project completed they never let us know why they let us go even if it had been unlucky lotto i was never notified a total bummer.

Pros

- company car - well paid

Cons

- management does not communicate at all. They expect you to mind read and meet their expectations perfectly, even while in training like a seasoned veteran . If you don’t, they will fire you with no explanation and a smile on their face. - no formal training program; I was supposed to be trained for 6 months and they cut it 2.5 months and seemed to have held me to the standards of my trainer who had been with the company for over 40 years. I say seemed because again, no communication! - passive aggressive phone calls; management won’t communicate but they do love to call you and make it your fault when they’re having a bad day. - Lack of respect; i was interviewed by 3 of the managers and I could tell which ones chose me/liked me and which ones didn’t. Any recommendations I had to make dispatching smoother fell on deaf ears as I was not taken seriously or treated as a member of the team. It was clear my boss had not chosen me, but was “stuck” with me and was prepping to fire me from the moment training was done. - overtime all day; my day started at 5AM, but I could easily work until 7PM because none of the foreman/superintendents would give me their schedules until 4-5PM if at all despite every day I asked for them between 9-10AM and instead of holding them accountable, my boss told me “that’s just the way it is” which I don’t believe because we were the only region with this problem. Gotta love a boys' club!
