Pros

It God honestly, from outside appearances at least, looks like a great place to work. The building is gorgeous and some people drive nice cars there. If you are looking to have steady Income of 12 to 15 an hr for the next couple of years for forty hours a week and observe only five holidays a year, then this is a good bread maker. This is why they target temp agencies that hire recently graduated college students. Once hired, job security is good but I've seen people work there five years and make less than temps who technically aren't employed by Granite. The work is really, really, really, really easy. They make you take notes on everything when you first start and I believe they use them for their chosen ones. If you have a college degree, you will be hated since they just made that a requirement to have. Not a good formula when your team lead and Supervisor dont have College Degrees. They obviously don't want to be compared along side of you....

Cons

Everything is a front and is very much planned out. From the initial interviews to the first week spent at "Granite University". This Granite University allows you to first encounter corporate spies. In my class we had 3 people who had been with the company for at least six months already. I think these were the people on the hot seat who were given the decision to either spy or get fired. After being followed home on the train by a particularly gorgeous member of Granite, who was in that class but also somehow randomly met me a couple days before training, I stopped talking to her and what do you know? She was fired. During my time there, I can't tell you how many times I sent someone an email and didn't get a response for a couple of days only to find out they were fired. Everyone is afraid to get fired and there is paranoia everywhere abt spies. Do your job really well at the beginng without being a "chosen one" and they will follow you when you leave your desk to make sure you aren't going to the review team to get templates. Alright so basically they wave hire dozens of people from a temp agency but they really only want to hire a couple and it is the Supervisor s jobs to find that excuse to let you go when your three month contract is up. For a company that claims to have never fired anyone, the numbers don't add up. This year alone there have been thousands of ads for positions at Granite. Personally, I know for a fact that they were pushing to hire 200 more sales people yet articles only mention that they are adding 250 more positions..for the entire year. And they also give a bonus if you refer a sales person so clearly the majority of those hires will be for friends of friends. They have no maternity or paternity leave. No women of color at all above a team supervisor role. Notice that all of the positive reviews on this site just dispute other posts on here but don't add any substance to what makes Granite good other than "it's not as bad as people say". They have their own people post here and don't be the one to mention this website at Granite U because the person running the class is in constant email communication with your supervisor. The spies are there as his witnesses. You will be labeled a troublemaker and your career is basically done. Every review on here has to go through Granite first...think about that for a second. There job is to not make you quit before your three months is up. Just to rebut an older post, once hired, you have to stay in your department for at least a year and you need a good reason to switch. Now how can one do that without being labeled a troublemaker?

Pros

No pros what so ever.

Cons

This company and specifically the collections department have very little opportunity for growth, despite what may be promised during the hiring process. Honestly, it’s a circus. Non stop tasks are thrown at employees each day. And Goals are constantly increased so analyst can’t reach them. Employees who work hard and consistently perform well often find themselves stuck in the same position with no clear path for advancement. Promotions and opportunities never appear to be based on performance or merit. Management is one of the biggest issues. They have no clue. Favoritism is prevalent, and certain employees seem to receive special treatment, better opportunities, and more support than others. This creates a frustrating and discouraging work environment where many employees feel undervalued and overlooked. Morale suffers when performance and dedication are overlooked in favor of personal relationships and when there is little accountability for management and no transparency regarding career development. Communication from leadership is lacking, and employee concerns are not addressed. Management gets defensive when employees ask questions or disagree with their stupid decisions. Overall, it can be a VERY challenging place to build a longterm career if you are looking for fair treatment, professional growth, and strong leadership. Turnover rate is very high. Also, micro management is at an all time high. Would not even recommend this place to a college grad for entry level experience, if i could Put 0 stars, i would. For the sake of your mental health, stay far away.
