Granite Telecommunications

Engaged Employer

Genius company, just not for me. Good for recent college grad if they'll hire you without sales experience. - Sales Granite Telecommunications Employee Review

Pros

Great medical benefits.Great job for a recent college grad. Granite is a great place to learn discipline.

Cons

Packed into a 3x3 cube like veal. No privacy. Corporate culture of being shamed into participating in charity events (I wont shave my head for anyone). Too many ridiculous rules. Too many hurdles to sell a decent sized account. Didnt like the comp plan. You have to really bust it out for a few years to make appreciable residual $. The key fundamental of this job is being A)a master of generating good leads and B) Being maniacal about organization. Unfortunately these 2 fundamentals are so crucial and they dont teach these in training. Also, i didnt like to be told when i can eat lunch, i didnt like the cliquey atmosphere where half my colleagues were friendly and nice and the other half wont even look at you. Manager sat close to me so he can oversee my every move. Im not a fan of micro management. God forbid you call in sick or need to go somewhere during the day.I was told that I needed to stay late a few times a week. No thanks I want a life, not to be shamed. I quit soon after being hired.

Pros

No pros what so ever.

Cons

This company and specifically the collections department have very little opportunity for growth, despite what may be promised during the hiring process. Honestly, it’s a circus. Non stop tasks are thrown at employees each day. And Goals are constantly increased so analyst can’t reach them. Employees who work hard and consistently perform well often find themselves stuck in the same position with no clear path for advancement. Promotions and opportunities never appear to be based on performance or merit. Management is one of the biggest issues. They have no clue. Favoritism is prevalent, and certain employees seem to receive special treatment, better opportunities, and more support than others. This creates a frustrating and discouraging work environment where many employees feel undervalued and overlooked. Morale suffers when performance and dedication are overlooked in favor of personal relationships and when there is little accountability for management and no transparency regarding career development. Communication from leadership is lacking, and employee concerns are not addressed. Management gets defensive when employees ask questions or disagree with their stupid decisions. Overall, it can be a VERY challenging place to build a longterm career if you are looking for fair treatment, professional growth, and strong leadership. Turnover rate is very high. Also, micro management is at an all time high. Would not even recommend this place to a college grad for entry level experience, if i could Put 0 stars, i would. For the sake of your mental health, stay far away.
