Pros
I feel like GSG has provided me with a fantastic community of thinkers. My coworkers are generous, intelligent, and kind, pretty much without exception. These qualities are things that the company actively works to cultivate within its teams, and which perpetuate an incredible corporate culture. I don't have a background in technology, and never saw myself working for a tech company--if you had asked me what I thought of a tech job a few years ago, I probably would have said something about it being boring or soul-crushing. My experience at GSG has been the opposite. I firmly believe that my work is making me a smarter, better individual with more tools at my disposal to make a positive impact in the world. The work is not 'sexy'--we make tax software, not video games. However, it would be hard for me to remember a time in my (albeit short) professional life in which I've felt as fulfilled, or as supported by my team. I think this corporate culture largely stems from the work philosophies of the CEOs, Myles and Dan. Their approach to management is one of radical transparency and mutual respect. I feel that they genuinely care about the well-being of their people, and understand that the company's success is in great part the result of attracting employees who are as kind as they are talented. In short, it's a wonderful place to work. The other benefits (working from home, generous leave, competitive salary, excellent health benefits) are wonderful, but not more important than the community they serve.
Cons
GSG has struggled to build ethnic diversity within its ranks, which is something that management has openly discussed with employees and which the company is doing its best to address. Since I was hired (around a year ago) I've seen lots of improvement in this area, but we have a long way to go.
