Pros

It pays the bills and keeps me employed

Cons

No experience in managing positions. Very disconnected from workers. Safety concerns. Worker moral is almost non existent. Needs people who were successful in their labor jobs with many years experience to be consulted with and those are the ones who should be our future managers and supervisors. In the past years they have turned good workers into people who are numbers and are only there for a paycheck. Human Resources needs to be going around and talking to employees 1 on 1 to see problems. Higher placed management outside of plant locations need to be aware of problems and concerns at individual plants and separate locations.

Pros

None at this time. This job sounds great at first, but is terrible at the end.

Cons

I would not recommend this company if you value transparency, flexibility, and a supportive work environment. While Graymont presents itself as flexible, that was not my experience. There was little to no accommodation for real family emergencies, which made balancing personal responsibilities extremely difficult. It was also made clear—directly and indirectly—that asking questions about your role or responsibilities was not encouraged. This created an environment where communication felt one-sided and employees were expected to simply comply rather than understand their work. There was no real sense of psychological safety. Speaking up, seeking clarification, or raising concerns didn’t feel welcomed, which can make day-to-day work stressful and isolating. If you’re looking for a workplace where expectations are rigid, communication is limited, and flexibility is more of a claim than a reality, then this role may suit you. Otherwise, it may not be the best fit.
