Pros

It took me leaving Graymont and working for a competitor to see how much the company culture provided support for safety and environmental initiatives. The investment in technology and the respect given to the areas of environment and safety gave you incredible self worth and meaning in your work.

Cons

At the time I left there wasn't a good balance between hybrid work and salary. Traveling frequently to be somewhat underpaid and not have an option to work remotely for a week or so a month made it difficult to balance your personal life. I see now that many positions (including my former position) are offering a more balanced hybrid approach. Make sure you don't lose good people by not being flexible or having those conversations!

Pros

None at this time. This job sounds great at first, but is terrible at the end.

Cons

I would not recommend this company if you value transparency, flexibility, and a supportive work environment. While Graymont presents itself as flexible, that was not my experience. There was little to no accommodation for real family emergencies, which made balancing personal responsibilities extremely difficult. It was also made clear—directly and indirectly—that asking questions about your role or responsibilities was not encouraged. This created an environment where communication felt one-sided and employees were expected to simply comply rather than understand their work. There was no real sense of psychological safety. Speaking up, seeking clarification, or raising concerns didn’t feel welcomed, which can make day-to-day work stressful and isolating. If you’re looking for a workplace where expectations are rigid, communication is limited, and flexibility is more of a claim than a reality, then this role may suit you. Otherwise, it may not be the best fit.
