Pros

I was given lots of opportunities to to move within the organization and to grow. The office is new and has a good feel to it. Although, at times it can feel cramped. They do provide snacks and a stocked refrigerator. During my time at GM all of my supervisors were approachable, and my colleagues were buying into the mission. The materials produced by the organization are very good, and well received by the field.

Cons

Some very large red flags here, that potential hires should be aware of. Work life balance was awful. There seemed to be little concern from some of the senior leadership that many employees were working 60 hour weeks. The organization also seemed struggle maintaining B2B relationships. It felt as if we were constantly mad at partners or in lawsuits. The BIGGEST red flag here would be salaries. As others have said, salaries are not competitive. When I left Great Minds, there were entry level employees earning in the low $30Ks. Twice while working at Great Minds my salary was paid out incorrectly. The first time, I was given a promotion and agreed to a new a salary of $40k. A higher level director decided that I should not be paid that much and the salary was reduced to $38.5k. Unfortunately, no one told me. I proceeded to work the next 8 months believing that I was earning $40k a year. I did raise a concern with accounting over my paystub, but was assured that my salary was correct. It was only in my one year review that I confirmed the difference. After raising the concern to HR and my director, it was decided that I would not be given any back pay. From what I could gather, the decision was made, because nothing in the initial agreement was in writing. A few months later, I was given another pay bump. This time it took approximately 4 months for my salary to be adjusted. Thankfully, I was given back pay this time. Make sure to get all agree compensation in writing and monitor paychecks closely. Also, bonus checks were paid out seemingly at random and very slowly. Great Minds also lacks a company culture or professional development opportunities. All of these issues and the hours made it incredibly difficult to work at Great Minds towards the end of my time there.
