Pros

Mid-level and below? Lovely, smart, passionate people. Meaningful work in theory.

Cons

C-level executives and above? Dumpster fire. I am writing this about a year after leaving because I figured I needed to cool off before leaving a review if I wanted it to be helpful. While I have not worked here in some time, I do keep in touch with several people as I value the connections I made while working at Great Minds. I know nothing has improved, and much has become worse. The leadership at Great Minds has a history of making questionable decisions (see other reviews noting the $$$ dinosaur, for one), being inept communicators, mistreating their employees, and bickering with each other to the point where it has become a hostile workplace for many. I have personally witnessed director-level leaders verbally abuse their employees. Some colleagues attempted to bring this to their direct report's attention, only to be told that this was just how the director communicated. I know several HR complaints have been made about an employee who is friendly with a director, but no actions were taken. Quite a bit of nepotism - more than a few people in roles they are unqualified for. It took the CEO several weeks and a letter of concern signed by an entire department to make a statement condemning racism in the summer of 2020. A bit odd considering Great Minds' slogan is "every child is capable of greatness". Much griping about making digital content accessible to meet 508 compliance when schools had to pivot toward remote learning. "Every child". When I worked here I was told that the salaries, health insurance and PTO benefits were top tier. That simply is not true. They are average at best. You will be spread too thin to make these middling benefits worth it. If you work here, you have little to no recourse if you find yourself being mistreated. I would not recommend working here to anyone unless it was your only option.
