Pros

Flexibility of remote work, average pay and benefits for the field (although better than teaching usually), wonderful and collaborative colleagues on the content team members over the past few years, opportunity to develop high quality curriculum and positively impact education in the US.

Cons

Product team “unification” led by Rachel Stack has been grossly mismanaged and poorly communicated, and as a result, the product team morale is very, very low. Every employee is being required to re-apply for their roles, even though many folks have been with GM for 10+ years and have been integral in developing their flagship Eureka Math products, which have made the company a LOT of money. Decision making is very hierarchical and the average curriculum developer does not get to meaningfully contribute to decision-making, despite having deep expertise and important perspectives on implementation of the curriculum in real classrooms. The work on the math team with state adoptions has become very micro-managed over the past few years, with inconsistent decision-making across states/teams and the product quality varying widely. The size and policies of the organization prevent quick, nimble pivoting to address issues and development of new products. Leadership is out of touch, decisions are communicated poorly, the organization is not able to respond quickly to the critical needs of the education sector. I STRONGLY advise not to apply to the Product team during this time.
