Pros

Nothing really. The product does not achieve as much as it thinks it does. The only thing it has going for it is that the bigger companies see the cost-benefit of competing to be not worth it. So it's only real competition is any upstart and looks like one is coming for its throat.

Cons

Leadership has performed 3 layoffs in 4 years. Their inability to build a true product suite makes it susceptible to losing in the long run. Sourcing Automation is not valuable and that's why they laid off the entire team they acquired in the M&A. To give everyone a bonus after laying off people is a slap in the face to everyone. In all honesty, the severance you paid them was really just the bonus you owed them. The fact that not a single leader has been laid off shows that there is no accountability. The fact that your leadership has allowed two layoffs in 8 months from each other shows inability to evolve or lead. DEI product features are a joke. The DEI features we are touting is the equivalent to saying "I don't see color". Your customers don't use structured hiring. They use you for the job application experience. So the name pronunciation, pronouns, and structured hiring does little to actually impact DEI and every TA professional can see right through it. A DEI statement is just a statement. We have done very little to operationalize DEI through our product. Customers don't care about the interview plan, They don't care about the scorecard. They care about approvals, reporting, and candidate review. Most ATS can do that. There is nothing compelling about using structured hiring because the customer can't even use any kind of reporting that actually validates it more than just a hypothesis. The scheduler is probably the worst in the business from a candidate and TA perspective. Even before working here, I dreaded having to give my availability using Greenhouse. Takes forever to say I am available Monday through Thursday except between 1-2pm, See how quickly I can type that. To tell the software that takes 5 minutes. If Workday actually wanted to compete, we would be crushed in a matter of months. But ATS is nothing but a value feature for them. Never the core. Our SMB and Midmarket segments have been bleeding and no support has been given to them. As a result I haven't seen a single quarterly bonus in 2023 and my numbers were all worthy of a bonus. It's like taking a paycut. Your leadership is very inconsistent. They will say they prioritize one thing and will tell you they don't value another area. Then, will ask why you aren't showing great numbers in that area. Because you told me it didn't matter. Leadership does not know what it is doing. As aggressive as the feature roadmap seems to you, the customers only care about three features you are releasing. Even those features they care about is still too early in its development for them to actually care about it. Not when they already have a robust product they are paying for that can do more than the basics we are offering.

Hello and thanks for making the effort to share your viewpoint so comprehensively. You've obviously got frustrations with many/most aspects of work here. I think our products speak for themselves and people can read lots of customer feedback on G2 etc. However, one thing I wanted to address specifically, the idea that layoffs are meant to punish or blame certain people. The idea that because someone's job was affected by a layoff, and therefore that person is to blame is a drastic mis-reading of the situation. Please avoid implying that anyone is "blaming" those let go (and by extension, absolving those not let go). Layoffs are painful, and while that pain is borne primarily by those impacted by them, no leader wants to do one. When they are done, it's not about who to blame - it's about fixing the problem by focusing on what roles and people that the company can afford going forward. Finally, I hope that you are able to either work out how to have a satisfying career here or if not, that you can find another workplace that better suits your needs. No one deserves to be as frustrated at their job as you appear to be.

Pros

The culture is unmatched and the leadership at Greenhouse truly cares about its employees. It’s refreshing to work with a customer base that enjoys our product. I really believe in the direction of the company and the improvements that we’re making to the product. Everyone I work with is awesome and I’m incredibly happy here.

Cons

I think the comp plan needs to be reevaluated. There’s a lot that is out of your control, and it isn’t setup in such a way that you can blow out your numbers and really overachieve your OTE. I think it was setup for a time when the company was a lot smaller, and the AMs had very large books of business. My only real gripe with Greenhouse is that we are paid commission quarterly instead of monthly, but I enjoy the company so much that I can overlook it.

Pros

Great fringe benefits and good at hiring kind, helpful individuals

Cons

1. Culture changed very significantly during my time there, becoming more cutthroat and less aligned with why I joined in the first place. In a way, I felt pushed out and like I had to leave as a result. 2. Macroeconomic and industry shifts resulted in job instability and cycling layoffs as mentioned in other reviews. 3. Some senior leaders started as entry-level employees, and while that career growth is nice to see, not only does it no longer feel possible at Greenhouse, but that those same employees are increasingly ill-equipped to navigate the challenges that the business is experiencing given their lack of exposure. This was especially clear to me in CS and Product. At the same time, turnover at lower levels was very high during my time there, even with great employees, but never much acknowledgment of it. 4. Product is falling behind Ashby and other competitors.
