Pros
Pillars of Excellence-Greystar has pillars of excellence that are a fantastic goal and ideal. However, if they are only applied as a facade it is useless. Charitable- they encourage employees to donate their free time and money on behalf of Greystar. The charity is most definitely worthwhile and I was glad to donate. However, what the company gained from a PR prospective was not lost on me. It is easy to be charitable with your employees free time and hard earned income.
Cons
There is a huge disconnect between the on-site team members and the Regional Manager. After being promised many things during the recruiting process, they back peddled almost immediately. When you are sought after and recruited then make major concessions to accept the position, it is extremely unprofessional and unethical for management to change the game. I witnessed unprofessional, unethical, negligence and lies on the part of my acting manager. With 10+ years in Property Management myself, I know it is my professional responsibility to address these issues. When I did, no action was taken and I was told to "Be a stepford wife" and "just drink the kool-aide". This left me no other recourse but to file a complaint with Human Resources. I know that other Regions, Markets and owners may be vastly different than the one I was exposed to. But in the Midwest region BEWARE. Accepting a position was a huge set back and I regret every aspect of it.
