Pros

As a community manager I am given a lot of autonomy in making decisions and running my property my way. My boss doesn't hover but is always available to guide (no give answers), ensuring that I learn and grow. Every market is different. Philadelphia is a booming market with incredible growth. Soon there will be more positions then bodies to fill the seats. The conferences and training events are top notch, the go all out. Very good work life balance, and managers are flexible. Compared to AvalonBay, the environment was significantly better.

Cons

Working for Greystar you really need to be a self starter. I almost didn't make it in my initial months because I felt like I was on an island on my own. The company is growing rapidly and you really need to be able to figure things out and function as much as possible. As busy as you are, your regional is 4 times as busy. But hang on and there is incredible opportunity.

Pros

They pay you well and give good benefits.

Cons

They will work you to the bone, abuse you emotionally, manipulate you, talk down on you, and throw you out the moment you aren’t taking any of it. They work you your normal hours and then 30-50 overtime hours in that same two weeks. They don’t care for their employees well being, only the results they get the client. Even if it’s at the expense of your health, safety, or mental status. Management is like a giant frat and sorority opened a business. You can’t ask for help they’ll retaliate, you can’t ask for relief or they’ll retaliate, you can’t have issues otherwise they’ll retaliate. Do not work here even for the money or benefits, they will work you to death and then prop your corpse up to work more. If you value your personal time, mental health, and over all well being. God forbid you want to leave your building and management doesn’t want you to, ask for a transfer and they will rain down write ups on you. You are owned by the client if you work for this company. Modern day indentured servitude. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM.
