Pros

Interesting customers, many of which you could get to know well. In down time, you might fill the role of a courtesy clerk, maintaining the store. That offered a good change of pace to look forward to.

Cons

Rush hour can be a little understaffed. When I was struggling personally and needed to lower my hours after initially agreeing to transition from part time to full time as COVID hit, management refused to directly lessen my hours. Instead, they expected me to call ahead of time on a case-by-case basis when I felt I wasn't stable enough to come in. This honestly put more pressure on me than having my hours cut would have.

Thank you for sharing your experience as a Clerk. As you know, our stores are independently owned and operated. I would encourage you to reach out to your store’s independent owner to share more about your experience. Best of luck in your career endeavors!
