Pros
Young employees. Absurdly easy work. Unless you're in healthcare, you look up people on LinkedIn or job board sites, then try and recruit them into speaking with hedgefunds about their industry. You could have done this in high school.
Cons
Long hours, unbalanced incentives, questionable management. They praise "promoting from within" when in reality people will take the first opportunity to leave. It's not "primary research"... it's glorified telemarketing to recruit "consultants" so hedge funds can take shortcuts and there are more than a few "bad apples" that clearly want proprietary information. The next job you get will likely be entry level as well, since you don't really learn any new skills other than reading resumes and making phone calls.
