Pros
GTCC is a great place for instructors or staff member of the College who are generally interested in steering first-generation and under-prepared college students towards academic success.
Cons
Since GTCC has an open-admissions policy like other community colleges, the College's student body is multifarious......but in a negative way. For instance, there is a large percentage of disrespectful students who come from violent backgrounds. Their first response is to use vulgar and threatening words to the instructors. Additionally, there are many students who are on "house arrest" on campus. All you have to do is look at the black ankle monitors. More importantly, there are many instructors who are actually terrified of the students because they fear that they will be at the receiving end of a violent action. The campus police, who are sworn officers, are not always quick to react, and the people who are department managers tend to brush aside the negative behavior of the students and do not support the instructors' decisions to remove the students from the classroom by formal deportment procedures. I guess they want to keep the numbers up, so SACS will not see declining enrollment. Hmmmmmm
