Pros

Connections if you're interested in the music industry. Great employee discounts. Flexible with schedule.

Cons

What makes the Guitar Center that I worked at hostile is the amount of gossiping that goes. I approached my general manager twice about this situation only to be called paranoid. There is no room for advancement. What makes Guitar Center hypocritical is the fact that their rules and protocols are applied only when it's convenient. For example, some people are scolded for being on their phone while on the job, yet others get to roam around freely on their phones while on the job in plain view of the cameras. Though Guitar Center preaches about how important customer experience is to them, their main goal is to sell to every customer. They have a "no customer walks empty-handed" motto. Their motto to employees is "What have you done for me lately?" With this kind of attitude it's no wonder there is such a high turnover rate with employees. I wish I had known this before I applied.

Pros

Sweet deals and discounts Coworkers are very pleasant to work with Good as extra income Good for aspiring musicians to network with experts of the industry

Cons

Obsolete softwares Scheduling system software that is thenmost imperative tool as of it will be the backbone of a lesson lead for your team of instructors success it's also somewhat obsolete amd constantly crashing both IT and Upper management are aware. IT is very diligent and pleasant to work with but Upper management expects their lessons lead to work and deliver at 100% capacity while they continue to have an operating system that only works at 75% capacity, just beware of that and if you're willing to work under those conditions. With that put there go at your own discretion. Nobody gets Christmas/winter holiday vacation time off, also go at your own discretion on that one especially if you have kids and family looking for work-life-balance.
