Pros

Guy Carpenter offers great salary and benefits (including pension!). Its offices are often in prime real estate areas. The company has a stable revenue base

Cons

Getting a position without internal connections is difficult- they often make poor hiring decisions based on non-traditional factors as client connections (i.e. most young professionals get their jobs via a connected parent, some poor dept leaders have been "found" this way).

Pros

I'm not there anymore. Fair pay. Started out great.

Cons

Midway through a year-long contract I already started looking. It was an extremely boring place to work. This is the kind of place where you stay within your boundary. In other words, if you are an architect, you design diagrams all day. No hands-on work - even if you know what you're doing. I was even rebuked on several occasions for working with a developer to help him out. I was told I needed to tell him to ask someone else responsible for that. If you like to do hands on and you are an architect, you will hate it here.
