Pros

Comes with options of great benefits through, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, VSP Vision, Delta Dental. And do offer a 401K and if you're vested, company stocks. They give a 10% discount, with occasional 20% off.

Cons

HEB has had a long reputation of basically being the "best company in Texas, ever!", and although yes, it's not the worst company, it's definitely not the best, and has a lot it could improve on. Corporate is constantly raving about how they put their partners/employees first, but the reality of teat is a different story, heavily depending on who the store managers are. My current and my last manager have been absolutely incredible. Some of our current store management however, don't care about anyone but themselves, and how they can just climb the corporate ladder. Every once in a while, the company has each store do a "Partner/Employee Appreciation Month", where you get a free lunch or similar small "thanks" one day of that particular month. It's usually either pizza ordered in, or deli sandwich trays made in the store. This month, we got a baked potato. "Thank you so much for everything you're doing! Here's a potato" They also usually give out holiday bonus money, and in the past, it's been $100 bill, cash. This time, we got $100 gift card, to the store, so we can only use it for groceries and such, and not to say, pay a bill or something important. Management in every store I've worked at doesn't take sexual harassment seriously at all, even when they witness the person you and many others are reporting making unwanted sexual advances towards you. If you report anything to HR, nothing will be done about it. Some managers genuinely care, but they seem to get moved around every year or less, while managers who don't care at all stay in positions longer. I'd love to get more than 10% of a discount, especially these days.

Pros

Working closing at Food Service in Bakery is much more pleasant than morning shift, less oversight but! you are still held to a high standard to complete all your tasks. You get raises twice a year, depending on your performance. All my co-workers are very nice and my manager is friendly too.

Cons

Rush dates like Valentines, Mother's Day, big sports events, Thanksgiving (PIES!!), and Christmas can be challenging but as long as you don't talk too much and just do the work, it'll be okay.

Pros

None. Get out while you can.

Cons

Houston location has the worst leaders. They're cheap with raises and cut the good people so the management team can get better bonuses. They make up rules that make no sense when they feel like. There are guys in the yard who have no job titles but somehow are still working there doing nothing all day? The safety leads/radio room/management are a joke. They cover up for the people they're buddies with. Ran into the gate? Destroy thousands of dollars of goods or a trailer? Ran out of gas in the middle of the road driving the mule offsite? Not a problem if you're buddies with management and safety. If you're buddies with management, you get opportunities offered to you even though you may be among the worst and slowest spotters. If you're not buddies with management/safety/radio, you have to watch your back. HEB corporate needs to look into management here.
