Pros

H&M prides itself on diversity and acceptance and this was evident in every store I worked at. People of color and members of the LGBT community were usually at least 1/2 the staff which made for a unique working experience. No one is discriminated against at H&M provided they don't discriminate against others so if you're Muslim, nonbinary, trans, gay, black, etc. this is a safe space for you! All employees including part-time accrue vacation and sick leave and everyone gets a free day for their birthday to be used whenever. H&M strives to IMPROVE their employees so if you make mistakes like being tardy or getting upset with a customer they'll help you grow rather than just punish you or fire you. H&M also compensates it's employees well part-time staff generally start above minimum wage, bonuses are possible and do happen from time to time, and wage increases can be expected. All employees can earn stock in the company. If you are a full-time employee you will also have medical insurance which if you are transgender and willing to pay a higher premium WILL COVER YOUR TRANSITION SURGERY! They promote from within, if you put in the work you will get ahead. Everyone helps everyone yes you have departments and roles but you will learn how to do everything and you will get help from your co-workers and management.

Cons

H&M is the hardest retail job you will ever work. Everyone will from time to time put in a late night, everyone is expected to ALWAYS work their hardest and do their best, and everyone learns every role at H&M managers, sales staff, visual merchandisers, everyone is expected to help with and take part in all parts of running the business, this is awesome because it means you can do anything, but it also means a lot of really hard work! H&M also has strict rules on availability if you want to be full time you MUST have open availability and be prepared to have your schedule change frequently. There are concessions for religious reasons but unless you're prepared to work all shifts/all hours you shouldn't apply here for full-time work. Part-time is a bit more flexible but be prepared to never have a Saturday free. Also, H&M is FAST FASHION this means the business is broken down into 52 weeks with associated trends/focuses for each week. This means LOTS of changes, constantly, if you're used to having long gaps between seasons be prepared to pick up the pace!

Pros

Benefits even for part-timers is a huge win! Sick leave, vacation, and community days. Nice management and really friendly coworkers. Decent employee discount. Diverse and welcoming environment.

Cons

Very stressful work environment considering the low pay. Poorly managed and operated. They clearly try to run lean and do as much work with as few people as possible. Very unprofessional overall and a lot of greenwashing.
