Pros
3 months of work. 9 months off. Great seasonal position
Cons
As an upper level associate I received much more pay than low level associates. They tell you to build your book of business but then the new manager; who has never prepared a return in her life, tries to take away all your easy returns (the ones you can finish in way less than an hour) and give you all the returns that are complex, which sometimes takes hours to complete. Yes you get paid per filed return and while you get paid more for a complex return it isn’t enough to make up loosing 3 or 4 quick returns. Also, you are expected to help new associates when they run into problems. You will of course be doing this free, you will not be compensated for fixing their errors and sometimes you will need to fix errors that they are making on a return that used to be your client. Again without pay. I could go on
