Pros
Public hospital serving the community. Adequate training provided for clinical staff. Next to non for non-clinical.
Cons
Compensation is very low and non competitive for similar jobs in the area. The Hospital is money driven and as a result, there is no money put back into employees for appreciation, team building, salaries, etc. Time off bucket (PTO) is HORRIBLE. Especially when your Director FORCES you to take off days during low census in order to be under budget. You lose time for what you truly need... like a vacation. If you do not have the time to have off, you will go unpaid. Even if you are salaried. There is no negative PTO, either you have the time or you don't. Because this is a Union hospital, some employees can act however they like and there is little that can be done about them... it takes a lot of time to hire someone and even longer to get rid of them, so you just need to learn to go with the flow.
