Pros

Most of the staff are friendly and take the care of their patients seriously. If facing surgery, the nurses and techs are excellent at putting the patient an Family at ease.

Cons

Too much drama in the department I worked in. The Manager of the department I worked in had certain employees who were her favorites and any one she didn't feel she could mold to be her "lap dog" she would set them up so they would either quit or be fired.

Pros

Great culture and environment, at least on the Med-Surg 6th floor. Strong teamwork and collaboration among the nurses.

Cons

Patient-to-nurse ratio is 7:1, and charge nurses also carry patient assignments. Typically, there are only two techs for 44 patients, many of whom are bedbound from nursing homes. Collaboration between some physicians and nurses is poor. Team meetings are inefficient—every nurse is required to attend 30–45 minute discharge discussions with leadership, case managers, PT, pharmacists, and physicians, even when the patients aren’t theirs. This leaves the floor supervised only by techs during that time. Unlike other hospitals I’ve worked at, the director has never been seen assisting at the bedside in over a year. Nurse turnover is high, and those who remain are often tied to work contracts or reluctant to leave due to local circumstances.
