Pros

1) I had a set work schedule. I knew what days I had to work so I had an easier time balancing my personal life. 2) I met some great coworkers.

Cons

1) The pay and working environment. I was getting paid $9.00 an hour to work as a housekeeper. The workers are not adequately compensated for the daily demands and risks associated with this job. For a job where there is the potential of exposure to infectious diseases $9.00 an hour seems very low. A standard day might include 8 or more discharges and two or more areas to be cleaned. We were supposed to have monthly computerized training, after our initial training, on how to carry out our jobs safely and effectively. However, in the interest of saving time, the decision was made that one of my coworkers should input the answers for everyone each month. The supervisors knew this was going on and seemed to be indifferent about it. The main priority was making sure that the patient rooms were being cleaned as efficiently as possible. The push for speedy cleaning went above whether the room was thoroughly cleaned or even safely cleaned. It wasn't unusual to find rooms that obviously hadn't been thoroughly mopped or dusted in a considerable amount of time. There were occasional spot checks on rooms, but that wasn't very common in my experience.

Pros

HHS genuinely lives its values. The family-owned foundation is at the core of how we support our frontline and leadership teams, creating a community-focused environment. There is also a deep-rooted commitment to continuous improvement. I have witnessed the organization prioritize training, mentoring, and promoting from within to help team members reach their full potential. While we hold ourselves to high standards, there is a strong culture of accountability balanced by genuine support and teamwork.

Cons

Because HHS is constantly evolving to meet the needs of new industries and clients, the environment is fast-paced. It requires a high degree of adaptability and the ability to navigate change quickly. Additionally, as a large and growing organization, projects can be complex, and navigating internal processes as we scale requires patience and strong communication.
