We are pleased that this individual found our pay structure appealing and we perform a market wage survey on an annual basis to ensure that our compensation is competitive. While it’s true that HHS is a family-owned organization, the growth and diversification of the company, coupled with the general consolidation of the healthcare industry, over the past five years have forced us to expand beyond our traditional operational parameters, and to significantly increase our focus on operational development, and on supporting and recognizing our team members and leaders in the field. While our future will look different than the past, we are quite proud to be a family owned business and are confident that being privately held and family owned provides us with both a competitive advantage against publically held companies due to being able to make decisions that are in the best interest of our customers as well as having a vested group of Owners and Executives that are committed to the success of the company and loyalty to HHS staff for decades to come. Over the years, this commitment has been reflected in numerous ways with one of the most recent examples being that in 2015 Ownership took a significant hit to profits given the current consolidation of the Healthcare market, and in addition took a further reduction in their profits so that high achievers throughout the Organization could be rewarded with annual bonuses. We are currently in the process of augmenting training and development resources and tools for both our leaders and our hourly team members in the field. We are also developing and have rolled out a more robust and formalized recognition program to help foster a more positive culture and work environment. We greatly appreciate this individual’s feedback, and we are committed to continuing to improve our organization.

Pros

Family-owned business with a large organizational exposure. Offers great pay and benefits with ample career advancement opportunities. I really enjoyed working for all the HHS leaders that I reported to. The company has maintained the family-owned feel as they grew.

Cons

These are dependent upon the customer/contract that you work under. As a contractor, you work for the customer and not HHS, and it's not always the local facility. In the healthcare sector, there's no work-life balance. You have to be all in all the time. Staffing is often really tight with extra-large expectations. Again, this is not an HHS reflection but is dependent on the actual contract owner.

Pros

Some hardworking people throughout the organization that are supportive and care.

Cons

Executive leadership lacks alignment. Priorities change constantly, communication is inconsistent, and there is little to no strategic direction. It feels like pure chaos all the time. The organization has grown faster than its infrastructure. Corporate teams are expected to support the company without the staffing or resources needed to do it well. Chronic burnout is inevitable when leadership continues to praise operating as a "lean team." Employees raise legitimate concerns, including concerns about leadership behavior, yet nothing changes. Accountability seems to depend on who you are rather than what happened. Favoritism and nepotism are blatantly obvious. If you're not part of the inner circle (or family), don't expect the same opportunities or support. Benefits continue to be stripped away, annual raises are minimal (2% or less) with no clear explanation for how increases are determined, and there is no transparent bonus structure. This was the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced. If you're considering working here, I'd encourage you to look elsewhere.
