Pros

Location of office. Corporate staff is friendly and good people for the most part. Easy access to SXSW

Cons

No work-life balance. All departments in the corporate office are using outdated manual processes which allows for no time to improve and reach any goals set. Expectations are absolutely unrealistic, corporate employees are treated like ownership's work horses. You will feel like you are treading water there... Care for loyal and hardworking employees happiness in the workplace is non-existent, they do not care about your quality of life, even though they claim to be a "christian/family" based organization, that being said it is the most greedy organization I personally have every been involved with. During my tenure I never took a single vacation, and after providing my resignation which was well over the standard 2 weeks,I was thanked for my years of service by the "Family/Christian" based organization by not paying out my earned PTO....

While we regret that this individual had a negative experience with HHS, we believe this review is somewhat dated. Over the course of the past 18 months, we have been overhauling our systems and processes here at our Austin Office to bring all tools and resources up to date, and eliminating many manual processes in the process. We pride ourselves on our ability to be agile and to address problems as they arise, both for our customers as well as internally. We are concerned this individual did not feel that the leadership here in Austin appreciated or valued his or her contributions. Our CEO has placed a major focus in 2016 on improving our internal communication processes to make it easier for team members to voice concerns and request support. We are also in the process of augmenting training and recognition programs to further invest in our team members. While the environment in which we do business is 24/7/365, we value our leaders and team members -- and their work-life balance -- highly, and encourage individuals to take paid time off to rest and recharge. It’s very difficult to be successful in our industry over the long term if one doesn’t prioritize work-life balance. We regret that this individual had incorrect expectations of our PTO policy. We have never committed to paying out unused PTO, and it is not our policy to do so. While we believe some of the comments in this review are outdated, it’s important to note that some of the issues brought up here have already been addressed, or are in the process of being addressed. As an organization, we are committed to providing a positive, healthy and rewarding work environment, and we greatly appreciate the feedback of any and all current and former team members. Your comments help us continue to identify areas needing improvement, and to implement positive change. Thank you for your time.

Pros

Family-owned business with a large organizational exposure. Offers great pay and benefits with ample career advancement opportunities. I really enjoyed working for all the HHS leaders that I reported to. The company has maintained the family-owned feel as they grew.

Cons

These are dependent upon the customer/contract that you work under. As a contractor, you work for the customer and not HHS, and it's not always the local facility. In the healthcare sector, there's no work-life balance. You have to be all in all the time. Staffing is often really tight with extra-large expectations. Again, this is not an HHS reflection but is dependent on the actual contract owner.

Pros

Some hardworking people throughout the organization that are supportive and care.

Cons

Executive leadership lacks alignment. Priorities change constantly, communication is inconsistent, and there is little to no strategic direction. It feels like pure chaos all the time. The organization has grown faster than its infrastructure. Corporate teams are expected to support the company without the staffing or resources needed to do it well. Chronic burnout is inevitable when leadership continues to praise operating as a "lean team." Employees raise legitimate concerns, including concerns about leadership behavior, yet nothing changes. Accountability seems to depend on who you are rather than what happened. Favoritism and nepotism are blatantly obvious. If you're not part of the inner circle (or family), don't expect the same opportunities or support. Benefits continue to be stripped away, annual raises are minimal (2% or less) with no clear explanation for how increases are determined, and there is no transparent bonus structure. This was the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced. If you're considering working here, I'd encourage you to look elsewhere.
