Pros

Room for growth in management, great benefits

Cons

Poor management, training is not true, blowing smoke is their specialty. I busted my butt at one hospital, promoted within 6 months to takeover new property, quadrupled retail sales, satisfaction scores went from 40’s to upper 90’s within 30 days, was promised 20% bonus on retail sales over budget. Had $126k in sales over budget in 90 days, never saw a penny was just lied to. Traveled helping the other 12 failing sister properties, was told I was a great director at every property I visited and that I should be a regional, took over a client in Dallas, told I would be making 65k to start by the president, only to find out that was a lie, off by 10k, then they hired a new VP who knew ZERO about culinary, and showed off. I’ll NEVER GO BACK AND I WILL DETER ANYONE FROM WORKIMG FOR THEM.

HHS Response

I’m sorry to hear that you feel that you did not have a positive experience with HHS. The vice president who you are referring to has been with HHS for many years and was very successful in his role as a vice president for some of our hospital accounts before transitioning to senior living. It is true that he did not have much experience in culinary, but with his proven track record we felt confident that he would be successful in this new arena. For the specific account that you are referring to, the customer had some concerns prior to this new VP overseeing the account, and he managed to quickly remedy the issues and improve HHS’ relationship with the customer. Additionally, earlier this year we brought on a new president of senior living who has already made a big impact on our accounts in this industry. I apologize for any confusion regarding your salary, but from speaking with our team member resources department, it is my understanding that any pay discrepancies that may have occurred were corrected and our managers received the salary that they were originally promised. Thank you for your time with HHS and I want to recognize that some of the items that you experienced were controllable on our side and we did not handle them well. I wish you all the best in the future. Joe Terry, CEO

Pros

Family-owned business with a large organizational exposure. Offers great pay and benefits with ample career advancement opportunities. I really enjoyed working for all the HHS leaders that I reported to. The company has maintained the family-owned feel as they grew.

Cons

These are dependent upon the customer/contract that you work under. As a contractor, you work for the customer and not HHS, and it's not always the local facility. In the healthcare sector, there's no work-life balance. You have to be all in all the time. Staffing is often really tight with extra-large expectations. Again, this is not an HHS reflection but is dependent on the actual contract owner.

Pros

Some hardworking people throughout the organization that are supportive and care.

Cons

Executive leadership lacks alignment. Priorities change constantly, communication is inconsistent, and there is little to no strategic direction. It feels like pure chaos all the time. The organization has grown faster than its infrastructure. Corporate teams are expected to support the company without the staffing or resources needed to do it well. Chronic burnout is inevitable when leadership continues to praise operating as a "lean team." Employees raise legitimate concerns, including concerns about leadership behavior, yet nothing changes. Accountability seems to depend on who you are rather than what happened. Favoritism and nepotism are blatantly obvious. If you're not part of the inner circle (or family), don't expect the same opportunities or support. Benefits continue to be stripped away, annual raises are minimal (2% or less) with no clear explanation for how increases are determined, and there is no transparent bonus structure. This was the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced. If you're considering working here, I'd encourage you to look elsewhere.
