Pros

They will entice you to accept a job by offering you a decent salary if you are in management (Hourly employees turnover at ridiculous rates because they are treated like slaves and make minimum wage). Outside of initial compensation (for management), there is NOTHING positive about this company. Keep in mind management is REQUIRED to work a minimum of 50 hours per week and its realistically more like 65-70 hours per week.

Cons

Typical good ole boys club. You will NOT advance if you do not know someone in the "family". The company preaches "healthy work/life balance". FORGET IT! It doesn't exist. Look at all executives that round your facility. Most are not wearing a ring and that is because they are married to the company. Friends of the family are put in positions long before they are ready when there are much more qualifiied candidates internally. The company is very shady and the COO has been known to listen on group conference calls without announcing himself. Report someone who is doing shady stuff and they are friends of the family or in the family and you have just signed your pink slip. This company cares NOTHING about anyone or anything that takes away from the profit and personal agendas. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

HHS Response

HHS is committed to a promotion from within practice that many individuals have benefitted from. Ours are true management positions, and our team members work the number of hours required by circumstances; at start-ups, natural disasters, new construction clean-up, et al, hours are long, and weekend and holiday work may be required. At well-managed, smooth-running jobs, positions work a more traditional 40-hour week. The COO participates in many conference calls, since his scope of responsibility is vast and spreads across a large geographic area. His participation is always announced and welcomed by the Presidents. Reporting of any ethical breach is encouraged and investigated one hundred percent of the time. Performance is rewarded within HHS and promotions are earned, not handed out to family and friends. Clearly, if HHS ran its operations the way in which this post suggests, the steady growth, excellent reputation and financial position we, as a company, have achieved over the past 40 years would not have occurred.

Pros

Family-owned business with a large organizational exposure. Offers great pay and benefits with ample career advancement opportunities. I really enjoyed working for all the HHS leaders that I reported to. The company has maintained the family-owned feel as they grew.

Cons

These are dependent upon the customer/contract that you work under. As a contractor, you work for the customer and not HHS, and it's not always the local facility. In the healthcare sector, there's no work-life balance. You have to be all in all the time. Staffing is often really tight with extra-large expectations. Again, this is not an HHS reflection but is dependent on the actual contract owner.

Pros

Some hardworking people throughout the organization that are supportive and care.

Cons

Executive leadership lacks alignment. Priorities change constantly, communication is inconsistent, and there is little to no strategic direction. It feels like pure chaos all the time. The organization has grown faster than its infrastructure. Corporate teams are expected to support the company without the staffing or resources needed to do it well. Chronic burnout is inevitable when leadership continues to praise operating as a "lean team." Employees raise legitimate concerns, including concerns about leadership behavior, yet nothing changes. Accountability seems to depend on who you are rather than what happened. Favoritism and nepotism are blatantly obvious. If you're not part of the inner circle (or family), don't expect the same opportunities or support. Benefits continue to be stripped away, annual raises are minimal (2% or less) with no clear explanation for how increases are determined, and there is no transparent bonus structure. This was the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced. If you're considering working here, I'd encourage you to look elsewhere.
