Pros

The company has decent starting pay for entry level employees, however do not expect that to increase significantly as your title and roles and duties evolve. They will lure you in with a sense of community with weekly company sponsored happy hours while constantly failing their employees.

Cons

The company is more interested in appearances, how people are perceived at face value, than actual quality of work. It is very much a 'boy's club' with very sexist, racist, and homophobic remarks being thrown around the workplace. With no viable HR, sexual harassment goes unpunished. Incompetent management, many who have either checked out of their responsibilities, waiting to blame those working beneath them for their shortcomings, or they're truly that unskilled in their field. People are promoted due to who they know despite having no qualifications for the role they've been moved into. Management is extremely two-faced, the CEO has very little interest in his role within the company, while the co-owner spends his day judging people based on appearance, tattoos, facial hair. The CFO is driven by his own ego and has systematically removed or run off anyone who he personally didn't believe was the future of HITT Contracting. All in all, a company that was once great, could perhaps be great again, but is failing its employees, failing its promises. For the first time in years it was not named one of the Best Places to Work, and they wondered why oh why did that happen? Look to yourselves, look to the way your employees below a Director level are treated, look to the nepotism. I left of my own accord and couldn't get out of this company soon enough.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are competitive compared to some general contractors.

Cons

* Poor work-life balance. Weekend work was frequently expected without additional compensation or meaningful recognition. * Role expectations were unclear. As an Assistant Project Manager, I was regularly expected to perform superintendent duties in addition to my own responsibilities, creating unrealistic workloads. * High turnover and frequent leadership changes resulted in inconsistent direction and a lack of support from upper management. * Inexperienced employees were promoted into Project Manager positions without sufficient training or mentorship, which often impacted project execution and placed additional pressure on other team members. * During my pregnancy, I did not feel supported by management. Instead of working with me to plan for maternity leave, I felt increasing pressure through unrealistic expectations and heightened scrutiny, leaving me with the impression that the company preferred I resign rather than take protected leave. This was one of the most disappointing aspects of my experience. * Communication and employee support depended heavily on the individual manager, leading to inconsistent treatment across teams. * Long hours and expectations to constantly be available made it difficult to maintain any work-life balance.
