Pros

The non-management people were amazing in my office. I truly enjoyed working with and becoming friends with them. I had a variety of challenging and interesting projects.

Cons

The Chicago office is a detriment to company culture. If you have to work across offices, Chicago staff will throw you under the bus and damage your career to advance their own. In general, there is slow growth and no advocacy unless you're screaming for it yourself. The process for becoming an Associate leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, and it becomes very clear that the whole company is just a big game of politics. So if you don't want to "play the game," I recommend looking for a job elsewhere. Also, pay is absolutely awful - they take advantage of their name in the industry to underpay and overwork.

Pros

I’ve had a good experience so far. People on the team are friendly and helpful. I also like that I get to work on different types of projects and learn from people in different disciplines. There are also some really interesting internal opportunities, such as competitions that bring together teams from different offices.

Cons

It is a multidisplinary firm and with different departments. For me, it is the first time joining the big company like this. There are a lot of internal systems and processes to learn, so it can feel a little overwhelming at first.

Pros

As a new employee, what has stood out to me the most about the HOK-Tampa office is that the team is culturally diverse, respectful, collaborative, mentorship oriented, and the leadership is patient and encouraging. I value that as a recent M. Arch graduate, my questions are addressed kindly and effectively. The IT is also incredibly prompt to help with any issues, and the first week has a very smooth transition into the incoming tasks.

Cons

The monthly parking through the City of Tampa at the Fort Brooke Garage has a 2-3 year waiting list.
