Pros

Great company, good benefits, great people including managers on up. Very large product line, good training, and Field service dept very responsive and cared about it's people

Cons

Field software would get easily corrupted making doing daily required reports problematic. Sometimes lost entire job's reports which meant starting over doing reports again for every instrument done for that job. Metrics didn't factor in problems beyond your control. Difficult to also maintain a work/life balance. You're always ordering, receiving, and stocking parts and standards and making sure on Friday afternoon that you had jobs confirmed and all the parts and consumables necessary for that week's job.

Hach Company Response
8y
Thank you for your feedback! We are thrilled that you felt your time at Hach was a good investment in your future and were supported by caring people and ample development opportunities. We understand it can be frustrating to have to do the same thing twice and actively research new processes and systems to help simplify the daily work of our associates. In addition, we will continue to encourage all our front line managers to get out to Gemba regularly to make sure they truly understand what a day in the field is really like.

Pros

Decent pay, good hours, fairly simple tasks, some hybrid flexibility.

Cons

Constant micromanaging of performance and KPIs. Performance is posted to the entire department with each error highlighted, be it minor or major. I was actively discourage from asking for help, or questions if I was unsure about an aspect of the job. Myself and my cohort were also actively discouraged from speaking or communicating with one another. This bred more competition and animosity between some employees in tandem with the constant focus on KPIs and comparing scores. Contract-to-hire was on a case-by-case basis and was said to be performance based as well as seniority based. This didn't always track as managers would be inclined to favoritism and certain employees would get fast-tracked or left behind their initial hire groups without explanation. Terrible first responder system for medical emergencies and education to employees on how to handle it (which occurred frequently).
