Pros

Pay is above average for the area. Good benefits, though the employees cost are increasing each year. There are some good managers that actually care and give you the room to do the job you were hired for and make the necessary improvements needed. Flexibility on working hours and working from home. Company acknowledges disparity in pay and opportunity, but still has a lot of room for improvement. Some departments have really good training, as there is a steep learning curve. It is easy to let work take over your life and Hach, in general, gives you room to actually find a work/life balance.

Cons

In general, the culture is one of micro-management, which often drives petty behaviors on the employees behalf. No closed loop communications with management. When changing positions internally, the company has a lot more lateral pay moves than is called for, often the pay increases are better if you were hired externally. Bad behavior allowed to continue. A lot of assumptions go on, without actually verification. Some co-workers will give you the cold should treatment, have harsh words, not do their job, make continuous mistakes, don't seem to understand processes and try to do it their own way, which causes a lot of extra work for others. Some of the employees clearly don't understand their own job, they can often be found surfing the internet instead of working, regularly come in really late or just not show up. Regarding any issue with co-workers, sometimes if you complain enough management will say they are working with the individual, but there is never any clear improvement so it seems that it is just lip service. Also, some will try to do other employees jobs and make changes without even actually understanding the true purpose of the process. As well as, dictating access to systems without even consulting the one's affected or their managers, which prevents job duties from being completed in a timely manner. The bottom line is that the company has a lot of dead weight and needs to do a little house cleaning.

Pros

Decent pay, good hours, fairly simple tasks, some hybrid flexibility.

Cons

Constant micromanaging of performance and KPIs. Performance is posted to the entire department with each error highlighted, be it minor or major. I was actively discourage from asking for help, or questions if I was unsure about an aspect of the job. Myself and my cohort were also actively discouraged from speaking or communicating with one another. This bred more competition and animosity between some employees in tandem with the constant focus on KPIs and comparing scores. Contract-to-hire was on a case-by-case basis and was said to be performance based as well as seniority based. This didn't always track as managers would be inclined to favoritism and certain employees would get fast-tracked or left behind their initial hire groups without explanation. Terrible first responder system for medical emergencies and education to employees on how to handle it (which occurred frequently).
