Pros
Hach is an amazing company for professional development and growth. There are plenty of opportunities for online training, classroom training, special projects, and new assignments. If you aren't doing something to learn, grow, and develop, then that's on you. I've never worked anywhere else where I can take a class in Trust or Conflict Resolution for free. It doesn't mean everyone is getting promoted all the time, but it does mean that even if you are happy in your role that you can find new ways to apply yourself if you choose. There are always opportunities. Also, you work with other high achievers. We also balance it out with a priority of shared down time. I couldn't tell you the last time I got an email on a weekend and very few after 5pm during the week. We respect vacation time and I've even had managers go out of their way to protect my time off. I find Hach a friendly and inclusive place to work where I contribute to something important every day and still have time for my family.
Cons
Hach is still improving on diversity. It's an uphill battle given that its main locations are in very white populations. But the company culture is pretty inclusive; the emphasis is on competence, not demographics. It's not a perfect place. There are individuals and particular circumstances that you'll not like, but I've never worked anywhere else where the balance of good days to bad days is so positive. Pretty much as soon as someone frustrates me, there's another colleague to pick me up or a milestone that's met or a happy customer that we helped.
