Pros
Compensation package was good. Management treated me well and was laissez-faire. Heath benefits are great provided you visit HMH medical offices. Good work culture for the most part. I enjoyed my role as a special ed teacher there and was able to make a difference in many students lives.
Cons
A challenge to recruit and retain special ed teachers with the proper certifications & experience to handle students with severe behavioral and emotional disabilities. Very cliquey & assertive staff who have way too much influence on administrative decisions; including an arrogant, wannabe supervisor with a limited skills who likes to showcase his minor league leadership abilities. Lack of modern educational resources, a deteriorating building, tiny classrooms, no social-emotional learning curriculum or even a breakfast program to feed students in the morning. Contractual breach when I submitted my resignation. (They cancelled my heath coverage immediately instead of honoring the 30 day clause in my contract.) No acknowledgement or well-wishes from anyone in HR or Leadership when I resigned.
