Pros
I really enjoy working at Hampton Lumber. The people are really nice and supportive. I have never worked in such a supportive, non-toxic work environment. The office does have a bit of a "boys club" feel that comes with the lumber industry. However, most of these people are on their way out and close to retirement. I believe Hampton is trying really hard to change this company culture and mostly succeeding though it can be a slow process. Another thing I really enjoy about working here is the ability of management to recognize potential and use it to the best of their abilities. If you start in one department but want to try out other options, they are very open to cross training and will do their best to work with you while still considering the needs of the company. On top of this, you can tell that the people at the top really care about the company. They give back to the employees as well as invest in the communities where they have mills, tree farms, etc. Even though the company is quite large, it still feels very family owned. I really love this place.
Cons
The dental package sucks. The "boys club" feel (at times).
