Cool staff but the consumer base is horrible - Sales Associate Harbor Freight Tools Employee Review

Pros

I love the people I work with. The supervisors are chill and understanding. We just got a new manager and he's not great, but the supervisors have stepped up to do his job instead. I love my work mom, she's helped me through a lot. I'm going to miss them when I leave.

Cons

The job is extremely busy. Expect to do several people's worth of work. Harbor Freight is the dollar store of hardware stores. The customers that it attracts are what you'd expect: primarily old white men. They are the worst part of the job. Most of our sales associates are female, so expect to be sexually harassed for the better part of your shift. Smile and nod, ladies. Smile and nod.

Pros

Great benefits, fast paced environment, good teamwork. I liked the hours, you get an education about tools, whether from your coworkers or the customers. And speaking of the customers, they were on the better side for retail. Most are down to earth and easy to converse with.

Cons

Supply chain issues, many parts would never be replenished, despite being featured, advertised, and on display. That would often lead to tensions with customers. Aggressive time constraints on tasks. Sidewalk sales, holidays, and also coincidentally inclement weather days, can be quite busy and therefore stressful. Especially if there's call outs, but if you have a good management team, you'll have good staff that will want to work for them.
