Pros

Decent pay that's about it

Cons

No guaranteed raises, they rather hire from outside then promote within. Once in a management position you will be lied to about promotions fair wages and performance reviews are a sham. Management gets to write their own schedule work whatever hours they want and no one checks in consistently on their managers for accountability

Harbor Freight Tools Response

We always welcome the opportunity to receive feedback from our hardworking leaders. We are committed to improving in all areas and at all levels. Your feedback will help us do that. At Harbor Freight, we value people above all else and we are committed to providing our Associates with competitive compensation to support their lives. We review the wages for our Retail Associates three times a year by comparing them with the market and minimum wage, and we also review them once a year during the annual performance review. We do our best to stay ahead of the minimum wage and we do not pay at the minimum wage. We also review the wages of surrounding retailers to determine the need for an increase in the current wage. We highly encourage you to reach out to your HR Partners or you may email us at culture@harborfreight.com to discuss any concerns. Thank you for your continued hard work and we are glad to have you on the team.

Pros

Great benefits, fast paced environment, good teamwork. I liked the hours, you get an education about tools, whether from your coworkers or the customers. And speaking of the customers, they were on the better side for retail. Most are down to earth and easy to converse with.

Cons

Supply chain issues, many parts would never be replenished, despite being featured, advertised, and on display. That would often lead to tensions with customers. Aggressive time constraints on tasks. Sidewalk sales, holidays, and also coincidentally inclement weather days, can be quite busy and therefore stressful. Especially if there's call outs, but if you have a good management team, you'll have good staff that will want to work for them.
