Pros
You get a pay check. Yes! Money! That's what we are all about here at Harmons...wait...... You develop a massive well of patience from all of the confusing crap and blatant favoritism. You learn to be humble because if you do anything good that gets praise or notice from upper or customers, your coworkers make your life a living terror through relentless teasing and sabotage. So shhh.... don't mention that your product looks good. You really learn to value team work, since there isn't any there. You gain a deeper understanding of the "boys club". Oh and you also get to explore the deep cliches of your gender. If you are a woman, you are treated as a chatter box and expected to do ALL the cleaning and fetching. If you are a man you are expected to be butch and macho and never show any signs of silliness or "weakness" or you are thrown out of "boys club" and then teased and mocked. You learn to be organized and document everything. If there is a mistake made and you aren't one of the favored few, it is your fault. Even if you weren't there. So take pics and notes and dates. The store director was great. He had my back every time. Fighting off the negativity wasnt worth it in the long run though.
Cons
From the get go, if you don't fit in or cross the wrong person, you will be miserable. Favoritism runs rampant. The guys run the show. The bakery and deli are a play ground for mistreatment and manipulation. This is not a place for someone who gets hurt easily or who has a heart in general. I have seen them try to make a girl cry everyday and if they didnt it wasnt a "good day". If you do good work, it doesn't matter. If you work 10 or 12 hours, it doesn't matter. Because if you mess up once, if you are late or call in (even with a doctor's note) you are stuck in the "lame duck" pond and then life just sucks. It's happened to a few people now. Management can't stay long enough to see it cause they all keep quitting. People may read this and say "If it's that bad why not tell a manager?" Because you don't know who you can and can't trust. If you try to tell..."lame duck" pond for you! The store director does what they can but it is all he said she said.
