Pros
Benefits are good, and they are one of the few retail places that still hires full time. Management within the store is great.
Cons
Quality of products has gone down a lot lately, especially in fresh foods. The frosting is now extremely thick and has given me (and other decorators) carpal tunnel (I have never had issues in my 10 years of decorating), and we have been getting many complaints about the taste of it. It has to be microwaved every time you use it. 20+ hours a week of labor (flash sales, new products) has been added yet hours and staff have been cut severely since Kroger merger. Yearly raises have been lowered as well, and salary is lower than competitors and despite having a lot of experience in my field I cannot even pay my rent. Concerns are ignored by corporate. Expect to slice meat and subs during any "downtime" in bakery (there is none, but you will be sent to the deli anyways). For a cake decorator or baker, there is nowhere to move up in the company unless you want to manage the deli.
