Pros
Good 1st part time job, co-workers are supportive, room to grow within the firm.
Cons
Management is only for show. They have zero control in decision making pertaining to raises and firing employees. Everything is passed up the ladder and might eventually trickle down. I have been employed by Harris Teeter for 9 years and I am trained/Certified in every department of the store. I have yet to make $1.00 more an hour then I started with 9 years ago. The "raises" I have received are only due to cost of living increases. This company used to care for their employees but with the recent merge(Buy Out) with Kroger, its clear that this company only cares about its profits. They are cutting labor hours in all departments well below optimal operating efficiency. This is leading to an ugly work environment which will ultimately lead to a poor shopping experience for their customers. Happy Employee = Happy Customer, not the other way around. If you are looking for a place to start a career at a respectable company in the retail market, go work for Publix. They support and care for their employees like they are part of the family. They are not publicly traded which means there are no outside investors to please. The only people to keep happy are their employees because these are the same people that grow their company.
