Pros
Workmates are the best. Like in most places, some managers are wonderful, fair, and well suited for leadership. There is also processes in place to move from one unit to another. For the most part, the union contract protects from arbitrary rules being enforced- though not completely. Every third weekend. Genuinely a nice place to work.
Cons
As with any other organization, with stellar managers come some managers that don't belong in the role. We all know what poor managers do to the group being led. Also, HHC has taken over and the small community feel has diminished significantly- to be expected when small organizations are gobbled up by larger ones. It is inevitable that the sincerity of leadership diminishes as does the quality of care when finances trump outcomes. Most importantly, morale of workers often is affected, where they feel their voice no longer matters. Having said this, overall, within the context of what the real world has to offer, it is still a nice place to work.
