Pros

First is the people - a great combination of smart and nice. Coworkers assume good intent and give each other the benefit of the doubt, which makes communication and collaboration much easier. I've found people to be genuine and helpful to each other. Work/life balance - I joined about a year ago, and I find it much easier to manage work and personal life here than it was with my previous employer. We all work hard, but the people here respect that work is only part of our lives. There is even a new wellness program being implemented now - I'm curious to see that when it's ramped up. The work itself - I came to HBP to do meaningful work - to improve leadership around the world. It's a huge challenge. Harvard Business School has amazing, research-based thought leadership in the field, and I and my team get to work with it every day. There is a strong sense that we're all working on something important. Great benefits - When I first started talking to HBP about a position, I was coming from a company that had really good benefits, and I thought I'd take a hit on this. But I was wrong. Because HBP is part of Harvard, they have a lot of negotiating power, and the benefits are really good. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised.

Cons

People are pretty empowered here, so if you need a lot of structure and task-level direction, the level of empowerment might be uncomfortable for you. Of course, this varies somewhat by role. The upside of that is people who are self-starters and have ideas can usually try things out and see where there ideas go.

Extreme disfunction. Every senior leaders opinion matters so that’s 10 different stakeholders you have to account for. Sr leaders are turning more into a mafia than actual leaders. Toxic workplace filled with politics.
