Pros

Reading the Glassdoor reviews made me skeptical of the company. I thought that there was no way they could deliver on everything that was being said. I was wrong. The company has great leadership and is mission driven. As a team member, you always know where the company is headed. You feel empowered to make decisions and do your job. It is easy to tell that Health Catalyst cares about its employees. They recently eliminated non-compete clauses and now allow their customers to recruit their employees. This is because they want what is best for each employee, and they trust that they can give it to them in most cases.

Cons

Some cons come with a growing company. The biggest thing I see right now is a lot of shuffling to try keep up with growth. This means pulling people off of their current teams to fill in gaps elsewhere, which could lead to problems in the future. I do have faith in the leadership team to figure this out. Another con is that it seems you can have drastically different experiences depending on which team you land, particularly with onboarding. Some teams may not offer much guidance which can lead to frustration.

Thank you for your thoughts and advice, as well as your kind words about our company. I also agree with your two concerns-- uneven experiences depending on your manager, and what can sometimes feel like a lot of assignment shifting as we strive to keep up with the growth. Both of these issues are elements that we are working to improve, and we are excited about where we see the company headed in these areas. We will continue to work on these, and appreciate all that you do for our company!

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
