Pros

Health Catalyst has a strong culture of caring for employees, clients and ultimately shareholders. The team I work with is always ready to go the extra mile. Health Catalyst is an exemplar of how to do business in these trying times. The Golden Rule is practiced by the majority of our team members for the benefit of each other, clients, and shareholders. Also, continuing to encourage promotion, both up and lateral, according to what employees’ desire is a strong positive.

Cons

The rapid growth of the healthcare industry along with our own growth needs to be managed as carefully as possible. Educating the front line who interact with current and future clients needs to be emphasized, Knowledge truly is power. While I appreciate not being over-supervised; sometimes I feel a little more leadership at the lower levels would be helpful.

Thank you for this feedback and these perspectives. I'm really encouraged to hear of your positive experience thus far, and I'm grateful you chose to join Health Catalyst 1-2 years ago, in such a critical area as sales. I also appreciate your feedback about more structure in our education and training -- I agree with this, and over the past year we've been making specific and meaningful investments through Health Catalyst University to really strengthen our offerings in areas like analytics, healthcare improvement, data science and other related fields. We'll also work to keep listening to team members' feedback in the months and years ahead as well. Thank you again for your contributions to our success! Best, Dan

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
