Thank you for sharing your experience and for your more than three years of contributions to Health Catalyst! I’m glad to hear that our culture, flexibility, and competitive compensation were positive aspects of your experience. We recognize that sustaining competitive compensation while navigating market challenges is critical, and I want to assure you that leadership remains focused on addressing these concerns in a way that supports both our team members and the long-term health of the company. I know the uncertainty around potential workforce reductions is difficult. While this is never easy, this is something most large companies navigate each year as they plan for the future. We remain committed to the operating principle of transparency and aim to be consistent in our communication with team members. We are grateful that, as part of the 2025 planning process just completed in February, more than 96% of our team member positions, including over 200 new positions added these past 12 months, were deemed to be financially sustainable. In the event that positions are identified as unsustainable, we remain dedicated to rallying around affected team members, providing generous severance, opening our networks, and acting as references as they pursue new opportunities. Regarding onboarding, we are always looking for ways to better support new team members as they ramp up in their new roles. If there are specific ways we can improve, I’d welcome the opportunity to hear more. Our goal is to set every individual up for success and ensure they feel supported as they grow in their role. We appreciate your feedback and your contributions to the team! Best, Dan Burton

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
