Pros
Overall, I've definitely really liked it at Health Fidelity so far. I like all of the people that I work with, there's a great culture, and my work life balance is very well respected. There's a good modern tech stack, and I get to work on a wide variety of projects that make me feel like I'm integral to the success of the business. Office politics is kept to a minimum (there's no such thing as an office without office politics), and it really feels like this a positive and collaborative place to work.
Cons
I think that what I see as being the real cons of working at Health Fidelity are inherent to this being a healthcare startup. Healthcare is a relatively dry and typically boring industry, and so a lot of the business problems that we solve end up being on the dry and boring side as well. The fact that this is a small company also comes with some inherent downsides. There's not going to be multiple experts on every subject, so you may find yourself running into technical challenges with no real "deep subject expert" to turn to. Also nailing down and documenting exact technical requirements is harder at companies that are too small to have dedicated teams for such tasks. Another minor downside is that small companies can't really have dedicated on-call staff, so developers have to take two week shifts of being on-call. It basically never comes up that there's an emergency outside of normal work hours, but it's mildly annoying to have to be prepared to deal with some emergency potentially happening for two weeks at a time. So overall, I wouldn't say that there are significant cons other than the ones that are inherent to being a small healthcare company. And there's not terribly much Health Fidelity can do about that without completely changing who they are and what they do.
