Pros
If you are complacent and without ambition, or are at the end of your career and just want a paycheck - this is the place for you! Anyone with ambition should look elsewhere. Flex time is also great...ability to work from home one day a week in some departments is nice...and if you are family of or friends with people in charge, you get the opportunity of doing that full time. Some of the people are nice... Company employs lots of senior citizens - this is a very nice thing to see in this day in age when most companies push them out for younger people who will work for smaller salaries. Plenty of user training that employees are allowed to sit in on. Fun employee appreciation activities that are pretty frequent. Free sodas/coffee/tea/filtered water. Project management initiatives seem to be helping improve the company. Instituted some wellness initiatives.
Cons
raises are mediocre...salary lower than other similar companies in Nashville...no cost of living raises... medical benefits never cover children's hospitals as in-network (get billed at the 60/40 rate)...mediocre at best... when positions open up they are filled based on favoritism or from the outside... 'bought' ESOP shares but put a 5 year hold on the money... no 401k match... communication of less than ideal news is always delayed, to a fault... the company has antiquated practices and are not on par with other similar companies... job-related training is non-existent despite KNOWN steep learning curve... documentation that would be useful to employees is sub-par... lots of lip service... does NOT use any of the best tools of the industry...quite possibly the cheapest or insufficient tools developed in-house... knowledge sharing between departments is discouraged because time-lines are poorly managed... knowledge sharing between teammates doesn't exist either for fear it will jeopardize their jobs (to a fault) - when they quit, the knowledge is gone... NO synergy - 'every department for themselves' except when missing a deadline on a major release (forced cooperation that yields mediocre results)...silos cross training isn't encouraged... makes unrealistic promises to clients putting great strain on employees... seeing the smaller clients get pushed aside for the larger ones consistently... 'working as designed' is the consistent cop out from incomplete software requirements... no tuition reimbursement... doesn't promote employee development... recently sued and settled out of court - copyright infringement - settling out of court doesn't say 'innocent,' it says we didn't have a leg to stand on in court...regardless of what the 'smooth over' verbiage issued from Sr. Mgmt...
