Pros

It's a job and a paycheck, and both are things people need. My District Manager has some decent advice for some situations, if you can get in touch. The residents in my buildings have been wonderful to work with

Cons

HCSG took over the nursing home chain where I worked and started cutting immediately. Buildings that were running smoothly suddenly had issues but we weren't given enough labor hours to correct it and prevent it from happening again. If you run any overtime, it better be a very very good reason and you still get screamed it. Account managers are expected to fill in for call-offs, check behind every staff member to be sure their work is done, be the final check on the tray line to be sure accuracy is maintained, put away your stock when delivered, do all the deep cleaning that your staff no longer has the time to do, do all the audits, payroll, and other paperwork, and find time to go see all the residents and new admissions. I'm all for don't doing what it takes to get the job done, but I can't be in three places at once. You're basically on call 24/7, using your personal cell phone to get all these phone calls, and have no life. 14 hour days are not uncommon, expect closer to 18 hour days if you don't try to put something off to the next day.

Pros

coming to work and greeting residents and some of the staff, that helps me through the day, laughing and joking around, just so I don't think about the negativity that comes with working for hcsg and working in a autumn lake building

Cons

working understaffed meaning 3 and half housekeepers, is not gonna cut it and people go on vacation or sick or just off.. the slack is passed down on us and more so on the manager, the company culture uses him and he can never take time off because he's filling in 100 percent of the time.
