Pros

Employees work hard. Many are driven to help the community because they come from there. Decent benefits, good PTO, good salary for most roles.

Cons

Ask thorough questions before you join. You will get conned by the HR orientation (which is a great orientation). Very unstructured organization. Depending on the role, most salaried positions do not have good work life balance. Daily schedule is rough in many departments. Meeting heavy organization. Everything needs a meeting (or 5 or 6) but very little gets solved. Lots of playing hot potato between departments with work and projects, meaning everything needs to get done but good luck getting someone or a team to own it and do it. Most management is hard to listen to and learn from. Even the good managers get crunched by the top heavy organization. Almost all decisions require multiple people to say “Yes” before they can press forward. You can have people with years of documented experience and specialized backgrounds leading projects that will get stalled or have their projects derailed by 2 people with better titles and no knowledge of the issue or problem being solved. Everything is a brainstorm session, very few thought leaders and entrepreneurial thinking is discussed but not encouraged or practiced. Little respect for time off. Business needs trump all.
