Pros

Good benefits, fantastic on-site health and wellness center as well as a gym. Beautiful cafeteria and building.

Cons

Hearst has a major problem with structure and communication. Management seems to be focused more on rewarding the same circle of men over and over and ensuring that conversations are fairly closed rather than getting to know the strengths and interests of teams as a whole. They make it very difficult to feel as if you are part of a team at all, which in turn makes it hard to feel motivated in general. It became difficult coming to work every day knowing that I had no real connection with anyone and was isolated from being a part of anything. Additionally, my job responsibilities seemed to change right under my nose without any communication as to why. I was expected to just “know” what was wanted and needed. I routinely felt disrespected and as if I was not being utilized for many of the skills I thought I was hired for. I ultimately chose to leave the company because Hearst made me question my worth and abilities for quite some time. I am now in a job that rightfully fits my experience and I am on a team that values my time and knowledge. A night and day difference in management style and above all: communication.
